Guacamole Could be a Delicious Way to Ward Off Prostate Cancer: Men who eat 90 grams of avocado daily are 59% less likely to get prostate cancer, according to a recent study from Jamaica.

And when scientists tested this in a more controlled lab setting, they discovered avocado extract to be so toxic to prostate cancer cells, it slowed their growth by up to 99% in a test tube.

We still don’t know the exact compounds responsible for this effect, but avocados are a rich source of many powerful anticancer substances such as mono-unsaturated fats, potassium, magnesium, carnitine, dietary fiber, lutein, and the unique cancer toxin called persin.

As a side benefit, 3 separate studies have shown that eating about one avocado per day resulted in significant weight loss in adults, and just 70 grams daily reduced the risk of metabolic syndrome by 50% in an American population study.

Avocados go great in any green salad, vegetable smoothie, marinated, or as part of my personal favorite — freshly made guacamole.
